Everyone loves the Servanthood Project!

"Servanthood was really good for my children, especially my daughter. It opened her eyes to the needs in our city. Churches often think they need to send their youth overseas or away for a mission trip. But the years my daughter spent working with Servanthood impacted her spiritual life more than going to Nicaragua or Bolivia, two mission trips with our church. Servanthood brings local churches together. Two impactful projects for my daughter were going to the Alzheimers unit in a nursing home, and doing yard work for a woman whose husband was in a psychiatric hospital. She has maintained a relationship with that woman even many years later. This is an example of how Servanthood made a lasting impact." - Don S, Columbia, SC
"Servanthood was such a wonderful opportunity for me as a youth. It was a life changing experience, and I still reflect on the memories made years ago at Servanthood. It was an incredible opportunity to serve others in our community. We are called to serve as Christ served us, and I was able to serve and grow in my walk with the Lord from the opportunities Servanthood offered. I particularly loved serving children through vacation Bible school and the worship and fellowship time we had with each other." - Kecia R., Lexington, SC
"As a Youth Pastor for 14 years, The Servanthood Project was one of the main staples for how and why I did Youth Ministry. I believe our youth need regular stimulation and involvement in the lives of those more needy than themselves. I also believe that they need to see and experience the cooperative work of Gods people beyond their own place of worship. Servanthood fulfilled these two goals and more. And I feel our youth have been better off for having been part of such a ministry. " - Josh E., Irmo, SC
"“Servanthood was an amazing experience for me. As a highschooler, it gave me the opportunity to partner with other youth from around our city and experience what it’s like to be on mission in your own local community. Serving in my town has continued to be something I’m passionate about, and exposure through opportunities like Servanthood were a huge part of instilling this in me.” - Allison V., Fort Collins, CO
"Servanthood was a great experience for our youth and for our congregation. We were able to connect our youth with those in need right in our own community and within our own congregations. We reached out to older folks in our church and it was great to not only meet small needs like changing light bulbs or yard work, but to see the conversations between generations that otherwise would have never happened. We looked forward to Servanthood each year to see the larger church body in our community working together across denominational barriers to work as one body of Christ. " - Matthew R., Irmo, SC
"As a volunteer leader, what I loved about Servanthood was that it opened our eyes to the needs of our city. Often times people who grow up in the church assume that mission work means you travel far away where there are poor and needy people. This week showed me that we are surrounded by these people locally. Servanthood creates a kingdom community when various youth groups come together to serve. I haven't experienced this type of fellowship among churches since." - Bethany C., Columbia, SC
"Servanthood was a bridge to bring the (local) church together to serve as one Church (with a Capital C). The projects that were selected empowered the students and their gifts and met the needs of those they served. The impact was both immediate and lasting. It is for such a time as this..." - Jarvis W., Dallas, Texas.
"Our camp has been the beneficiary of Servanthood youth volunteers for several years now and it has always been a tremendous help. As a camp director there are several things that I have appreciated about Servanthood. The leaders have always been wonderful. They take the work seriously. They encourage the kids that are working. They are able to multi-task by splitting their group up into small units to tackle different jobs. I can give them a list at the beginning of the day, provide them with the materials and know that it will get done. Another aspect that is very encouraging is that they are self-contained. We don't have to feed them lunch or entertain them. They show up in the morning and leave at the end of the afternoon. This is huge since they serve us during one of the busiest times of my year. Having the help without any extra effort is awesome!" - Jarl H., Gaston, SC
"In my experience as a youth pastor, Servanthood was a week that I saw many of our students spiritually transformed through serving others in their communities. Rod is head and shoulders one of the best leaders that I’ve had the privilege to work with over the years. Servanthood's mission of having a week-long time of having churches come together and serve others was one of the highlights of my ministry." - Jon H., Chaplain, US Army
